1910's:
1910 - The city became even more interested in participation in fire department protection by passing a bond to finance construction of a City Hall/Fire Station.
1913 - On January 10, 1913 the city bought the first piece of self-propelled equipment, an Ahren-Fox; Model AC Number 516, 750 gpm pumper. Joe and Dan were retired and department proudly rolled the new equipment into the City Hall-Fire Department building at 14 South Irving, (now the Wells Fargo Bank parking lot). At this time the department had three classes of firemen - A,B,C. "A" were salaried, paid by the city. "B" firemen slept at the station, receiving housing. "C" firemen were on standby status.
1917 - The city purchased the second major piece of equipment - a chain driven American-LaFrance 500 GPM Pumper, which was then the latest in firefighting equipment.
